The Five Precepts or Gokai
The secret of inviting happiness through many blessings
The spiritual medicine for all illness

For today only:
Do not anger
Do not worry
Be humble
Be honest in your work
Be compassionate to yourself and others

Do gassho every morning and evening
Keep in your mind and recite

Usui Reiki Ryoho – Improve your mind and body

The Founder

Usui Mikao

The 5 precepts known as gokai in Japan or affirmations in the West were introduced by Usui Mikao, the system’s founder, to aid his students self development and help them begin their path to self healing. They are the student’s first spiritual teachings and are universal, open to anyone regardless of their personal religious beliefs. The traditional Japanese translation used by the Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai in Japan today is:

Usui Reiki Ryoho Principles
The Secret Method to Invite Happiness
The Miracle Medicine for All Diseases

For today only, do not be angry.
Do not be anxious, and be grateful
Work hard and be kind to others.

Gassho and repeat them in your mind
at the beginning and the end of each day.

Usui Mikao

These guidelines represent some of the beneficial effects that Reiki can produce in your life if you work with the energy regularly. They also represent a set of principles that we need to follow on our journey of self healing and self development with Reiki. Contemplate the principles each day, put them on a post-it note and stick them on your fridge, frame them and put them on your wall, mentally review them a couple of times a day. What do these principles mean to you? How can you apply them to your life?

As you can see by the navigation bar above there are many different interpretations of the precepts, therefore we recommend that you meditate upon each of them and find out what is within yourself and what is your truth.
